Team of 4 people running on a beach towards a Red Bull blow up sign

Introducing... Red Bull Shore Shift

Are you ready to watch 80 people compete in a immense test of strength, endurance and teamwork? 20 teams of four will not only battling against each other, they'll be working against the tide.

Whitmore Bay Beach, South Wales will be hosting the first ever Red Bull Shore Shift on the 14th of September 2024 and here at Dare 2b, we're proud partners of the event, kitting out our very own team of 4 creators.

What is Red Bull Shore Shift?

This coastal functional fitness race starts with a 200-300m run then has 5 separate workout breaks, all split up with another run between each break. It starts with break 1, Who's Going To Carry The Boat? which consists of Ground to Overheads, Thrusters and Squats, all as a team, all carrying a boat chipper. Then break 2 is more synchro team movements using dumbbell chipper. The teams will then be split into male/female pairs for the next two breaks. Break 3 is an adapted Farmers Carry, with the teams using jerry cans filled with water. Break 4 Dare 2 Buoys is another mixed sex workout, including a sand bag chipper that needs to be carried at all time. Then comes the final hurdle, one last 200-300m run, then the whole team will need to pull together to beat break 5, the Rising Tide. The team will have to drag the anchor from the water, all the way up to the back of the break and throw the anchor in the boat, all before the tide comes in!

This non-stop race against the tide is going to be a full body workout for all the twenty teams taking part. And talking about teams, it's time to introduce the Dare 2b creator team!

Introducing our Dare 2b Creator team

Our creator team has been handpicked from across the UK, and we're excited for them to represent Dare 2b at Barry Island beach. We carried out a quick Q&A so you can get to know our team a little bit more.

Dan Sibal is a performance and running coach from London who has taken part in the Turf Games previously. We asked him for some advice for someone who might be entering their first ever event or race - 'When you feel the nerves, which you will, remind yourself of how far you've come and remember to have fun.'

Steph Storm is a fitness creator and online coach, originally from a small village on the East Coast of Scotland but is now based in London. One of the standout events she has taken part in is the 2024 Edinburgh Marathon. She hasn't been involved in anything like Red Bull Shore Shift before, and in her words 'the whole competition sounds sick ... I cannot wait to get stuck in!'

Lewis Robling is a Welsh ultra runner and former rugby player, who has never taken part in a functional fitness style competition before, but he loves being part of a team and having a shared goal. His pre-event advice consists of - 'If it's your first time, let go of any expectations and focus entirely on having the best time and giving all you've got.'
